This policy describes the Chrome extension Rank Lens — Tab Traffic Insights. We built it so you can inspect the current tab without creating an account. Contact: [email protected].
1. Information we collect
When you actively use the popup, we process:
- Tab context: URL and hostname of the tab you are viewing.
- SEO digest: Public HTML metadata (title, description, headings, links, images alt counts) via a short injected script after you open the panel.
- Load profile: Counts and sizes of network requests observed on that tab through
webRequest. - Lookup hostname: Normalized domain sent to Similarweb when you view traffic panels.
- Local list: Recent domains and cached JSON in
chrome.storage.local.
We do not collect passwords, payment data, or email unless you write to support.
2. How we use information (handling)
Data is used only to render panels, cache responses briefly, and answer support. We do not build advertising profiles from extension activity.
3. Storage and retention
Cache entries expire after about ten minutes. Recent domains are capped near one hundred entries. Everything stays on your device unless a third-party API call is made (Section 4).
4. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell personal information. Similarweb receives the domain you research. Flag images may load from flagcdn.com. We may disclose information if required by law.
5. Permissions explained
- storage — cache and recents.
- activeTab, tabs, scripting — run audits on the tab you choose.
- webRequest — load statistics.
- <all_urls> — allow the helper script on http(s) pages you analyze.
6. Your choices
Uninstall the extension or clear its storage in Chrome settings. EEA/UK/California residents may contact us about access or deletion of any data we hold (usually none beyond support mail).
7. Children
Not directed to children under 13.
8. International transfers
Third-party APIs may process data in other countries.
9. Updates
Revisions appear at https://ranklens.cfd/privacy-policy.html with a new effective date.
